The Global Pandemic changed many dynamics. Key among them is the way people now perceive the work-life equation. If there was any good that came out of COVID, it is that people realized life is not just home to office and back the next day- there is a life outside of work and it needs to be lived.
And so arose the new normal, or soon to be. Coworking Spaces. If reported future trends are accurate, flexible office leasing activity in India is estimated to cross 80 million sq. (as reported by CBRE-the world's largest commercial real estate services and investment firm based on 2021 revenue).
Of the total net absorption of approximately 20.8 million square feet, across the top 7 cities in January-June 2022, the share of co-working spaces stood at 20 per cent. ( data put out by Anarock, a leading real estate consultancy)
As a growing number of people realize that they dont have to follow the traditional path in their careers, we may well see rising numbers of the work force, especially freelancers and start up entrepreneurs, deliberately and consciously walk away from the conventional. This will be propelled by technology, awareness, and opportunity. Coworking, while unlikely to replace traditional offices, will become the new norm. Even large organizations will adopt a more flexible approach instead of being rigid about centralized locations. In fact, many of them are already offering perks like remote working whenever and wherever its possible.
Besides, there are several advantages to this new norm. Coworking spaces can give a much needed fillip to an individual's productivity, something that many WFM advocates may find, to their dismay, becoming a casualty in the longer term. The diversity of professions and individuals in coworking spaces can spark a cross-fertilization of creative new ideas as an outcome of healthy, stress-free exchange.
Then again, the opportunity for networking are abundant. Professionals may find several hitherto unexplored opportunities to grow their business or hone their skill sets, as the case may be. when exposed to new and diverse approaches.
So If you're feeling stagnant in your business, your startup, your app, your blog, or whatever else you're working on... spending some time coworking could be exactly what you need to get things flowing again.
